Enzyme “hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) dehydrochlorinase LinA” mediates first step of aerobic microbial degradation of a chlorinated insecticide γ-HCH. The archetypal LinA-type1 consists of 156 amino acids that include a directly repeated hexapeptide motif GIHFAP at positions 141–146 and 148–153. Analysis of a series of LinA mutants, containing none, one, two, or three units of this repeated motif revealed that two units, as present in wild-type LinA, are required for its optimal activity and stability. Moreover, the presence of a bend in its secondary structure due to a proline residue that precedes the distal repeated unit contributes to enhanced LinA activity.  相似文献

Titanium-based metal composites (TMCs) are showing great potential to replace existing traditional materials in aerospace, automotive, and other high temperature engineering applications. This is due to their excellent mechanical, thermal, and physical properties and improved strength to weight ratio. Weight savings in the aerospace industry results in higher efficiency. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), because of their low density and high Young's modulus, are considered to be an excellent reinforcement for metal matrix composites (MMCs). In the last 20 years extensive research has been carried out to investigate the combination of carbon nanotubes with aluminum, nickel, copper, magnesium, and other metal matrices. The production techniques such as mechanical alloying through powder metallurgy routes and their effects on the mechanical properties of CNT reinforced TMCs are reviewed in this article. The role of the volume fraction of carbon nanotubes and their dispersion into the metal matrix are highlighted. Governing equations to predict the mechanical and tribological properties of CNT reinforced titanium matrix composites are deduced. With the help of this initial prediction of properties, the optimal processing parameters can be optimized. Successful development of CNT reinforced TMCs would result in better wear and mechanical behavior and enhance their ability to withstand high temperature and structural loading environments.  相似文献

This paper presents the oil uptake of porous sorbent polymer sheets consisting of ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene. A comprehensive set of experiments are performed showing the saturation contact time, retention value, mechanical properties, oil pick‐up ratio, pick‐up density, and dynamic dripping profile. Kinetic modeling of the oil sorption is also provided. The experimental results show a good correlation with the pseudo‐second order model. The sheets exhibit high oil uptake speeds, requiring less than 2 min in contact with the oil to reach saturation. The sheets fulfill the criteria of high uptake kinetics, high sorption capacity, and high mechanical strength simultaneously. Those characteristics enable their use in practical spill response. A convenient approach to the synthesis of 2-amino-4,6-diphenylnicotinonitriles via four-component reaction of aromatic aldehydes, acetophenone derivatives, malononitrile and ammonium acetate is described. The reactions were done in water as solvent using cellulose sulfuric acid as catalyst. This simple protocol offer advantages such as shorter reaction times, simple work-up procedure, excellent yields and catalyst recovery.  相似文献

Using 12.7 fb(-1) of data collected with the CLEO detector at CESR, we observed two-photon production of the cc states chi(c0) and chi(c2) in their decay to pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-). We measured gamma(gammagamma)(chi(c))xB(chi(c)-->pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)) to be 75+/-13(stat)+/-8(syst) eV for the chi(c0) and 6.4+/-1.8(stat)+/-0.8(syst) eV for the chi(c2), implying gamma(gammagamma)(chi(c0)) = 3.76+/-0.65(stat)+/-0.41(syst)+/-1.69(br) keV and gamma(gammagamma)(chi(c2)) = 0.53+/-0.15(stat)+/-0.06(syst)+/-0.22(br) keV. Also, cancellation of dominant experimental and theoretical uncertainties permits a precise comparison of gamma(gammagamma)(chi(c0))/gamma(gammagamma)(chi(c2)), evaluated to be 7.4+/-2.4(stat)+/-0.5(syst)+/-0.9(br), with QCD-based predictions.  相似文献

Using data recorded with the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detector configurations at the Cornell Electron Storage Rings, we report the first observation and mass measurement of the Sigma(*+)(c) charmed baryon, and an updated measurement of the mass of the Sigma(+)(c) baryon. We find M(Sigma(*+)(c))-M(Lambda(+)(c)) = (231.0+/-1.1+/-2.0) MeV, and M(Sigma(+)(c))-M(Lambda(+)(c)) = (166.4+/-0.2+/-0.3) MeV, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively.  相似文献

The measurement of a distributed property is frequently encountered in engineering applications. The impact of a possible measurement error on the measured distribution is described and two methods to account for such an error are detailed: A Fourier transform based deconvolution procedure and a moment based deconvolution approach via kernel estimators are presented. The deconvolution methods can be used in many particle characterization and process applications where particle features or properties are commonly presented in a distributed form. In the current instance, these methods are carefully explored by using artificially generated data and applied to experimental data obtained from filter cake thickness measurements.  相似文献

The design and testing of a reference material for the calibration of optical systems for strain measurement is described, together with the design and testing of a standardized test material that allows the evaluation and assessment of fitness for purpose of the most sophisticated optical system for strain measurement. A classification system for the steps in the measurement process is also proposed and allows the development of a unified approach to diagnostic testing of components or sub-systems in an optical system for strain measurement based on any optical technique. The results described arise from a European study known as SPOTS whose objectives were to begin to fill the gap caused by a lack of standards.  相似文献

The Carbon-13 chemical shifts of N-Cinamylidenehexyl, t-butyl and sixteen substituted aryl amines were analysed. The lanthanide induced carbon-13 chemical shifts of the cis and trans of four N-cinamylidene substituted anilines were analysed. The spectra N-cinamylidene hexylamine showed only the trans form. The cis/trans ratio of N-cinamylidene aryl amines increased as the LSR concentration increased.  相似文献
